Vandalism

Vandalism Neo-Nazis desecrated the memorial to the soldiers who fell during World War II, the old cemetery in the city of Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region, October 2014.

In 2014, there were no acts of vandalism in Russia related to the glorification of Nazism. Nevertheless, in 2015, 6 cases of desecration of military graves of the Second World War were recorded.

Among the targets: monuments of military glory in Krasnoyarsk (January 9), in the village of Anastasievskaya Slaviansky district (on January 24, while the inscriptions were of an anti-Semitic nature), in the village. Legostaevo (Novosibirsk region, April 10), in the village Novopokrovka, Varna district (June 24), Chelyabinsk (August 15), Dzerzhinsk (September 26).

June 18, 2022 at Memorial Cemetery to Soviet soldiers in the City of Military Glory in Rzhev an elderly man damaged a memorial erected in memory of the Jewish prisoners of the Rzhev ghetto. The attacker broke the Star of David - the central element of the monument. Witnesses of the act of vandalism were employees of the city service for the improvement of the city, at that moment they were cleaning the military grave for the Day of Memory and Sorrow - they called the police. An elderly man was arrested at the scene. He could not explain the motives of his act.

A memorial sign in honor of the Jewish prisoners of the Rzhev ghetto, who were destroyed by the fascist invaders in June 1942, was solemnly opened on September 24, 2015 at the Soviet Memorial Cemetery along Ostashkovskoye Highway as part of the Restore Dignity project.
